When Social Media Makes You Share Too Much – Some Things You Should Not Post on Social Media
Social media has made it possible to share the things that are currently happening in their lives. It would be easy for people to share the things that they are thinking about but it seems that people do not realize that sometimes, they are already oversharing. They may say things that will cause them to become harmed.
Since 2009, people have started sharing a lot of details online and over the past years, more and more people have shared things that people would never know if social media did not exist. There are different social media sites that are available but there are some that are more popular than others. What are the sites that you normally use?
It is okay if you want to share details about your hobbies. Perhaps you love basketball and you have always wanted to share different information about it through your social media websites. This is easy. You can just share some posts or some links like this one: http://bballworld.com/best-indoor-basketball/. People will just share it or click on it if they are also interested.
There are times when people go overboard with the things that they share. For example, there are some people who share details about their love life all the time. You may have some friends who are in a relationship in the morning then they would be single in the evening then in the morning, they would be in a relationship again. It can make a lot of people seem immature. You may think that this is bad but there are worse things that you can share online:
- All of the details regarding your upcoming vacation. It is okay to be excited and happy about the vacation that you are going to have but when you share all of the details like when you are leaving or if you are going to bring your whole family with you, this can be the cue of robbers to target your empty home.
- You may state your exact location in your photos. There are some people who are just looking at where you are going to go. There are some robbers who may be in the area and you might become a target.
- Pictures of your personal documents and your credit card. There are so many things that people can do already the moment that they access your credit card. The moment that your credit card number and your card’s expiration date becomes well-known, they can already use your credit card for their personal use.
- You share information that is not about you. It is okay if you share things that are known to the public but if you share that your friend has gotten engaged before she chooses to share it, it will be a bit off. Your friend might not be your friend anymore after she sees what you have done.
Do yourself a favor and get to know the different things that you should not post on social media so you will not make a mistake.
